以《妖獸都市》、《獸兵衛(wèi)忍風帖》 和《吸血鬼獵人D》聞名于世的日本動畫導演川尻善昭的新作《Highlander: The Search for Vengeance》在制作了近2年之后終于要和觀眾見面了，但與之前宣告的作為劇場放映的電影不同，這部80多分鐘長的動畫片將于6月5日直接在美國發(fā)行DVD，分為普通版和特別版。3月14日該動畫的官方網站放出了1分半的新預告片，從華麗的畫面看仍然保持了川尻一貫的凌厲風格。該系列影片的第5部《Highlander: The Source》也將于今年9月由獅門影業(yè)在北美發(fā)行。而率先于6月問世的這部動畫版則是《Highlander》系列的制作人聯(lián)手日本動畫大師的一次嶄新嘗試。這部動畫由與川尻善昭保持長期合作關系的日本MADHOUSE動畫公司和專門發(fā)行日本動畫的美國MANGA公司聯(lián)合出品，香港意馬動畫公司（該公司也參與制作了即將上映的3D動畫《少年忍者龜》）參與制作。采用和《吸血鬼獵人D》一樣先在美國發(fā)行英語配音版、稍后在日本再推出日語配音版的做法，但不知道在日本是否會做劇場放映。
